International Relations

Nova works internationally through its membership of IGAL (Intercontinental Grouping of Accountants & Lawyers). The organisation was formed in 2004 by the consolidation of two international networks which had existed for 25 years: International Grouping of Lawyers, of which Nova was a member, and InterContinental Consultants.

IGAL consists of law firms and accounting firms throughout the world. The members have regular contact, and meet at least twice annually. The Nordic member states have also expanded their internal contact network, which means that Nova and its cooperation partners can be seen as a Scandinavian law firm with a hundred or so collaborating lawyers.

By virtue of its membership of IGAL, Nova can provide in-depth and wide-ranging expertise within various areas of law and regarding other countries’ national legislation, as well as provide assistance in international matters. Nova can also provide its clients with quick and personal contact with a lawyer in most countries.

At the annual meeting in San Francisco in the fall of 2009, the organization elected Carl-Gustav Lönnborg from Nova as the new president of IGAL. As President, Carl-Gustav Lönnborg will work more actively for international contacts and cooperation between IGAL members in all countries. Clients of IGAL members can with utmost confidence hire their normal lawyers or accountants in all international issues.

At the annual meeting in San Francisco, approximately 100 members were involved in organizing a hypothetical scenario involving an industrial accident with liability for damages in multiple countries. The members also practised cooperating in intellectual property law. Carl-Gustav Lönnborg: “It’s exciting to see the synergy of the fantastic IGAL network to better be able to help clients with international matters.

Nova is proud that the organization unanimously elected one of our partners as President.
